Shared learning and learning networks are
indispensable components of every successful
human enterprise. Indeed, our ancient
ancestors depended on shared learning and
learning networks for their very survival.
The adoption of shared learning demands that
there is a power shift away from 'singular
authority' to that of 'shared authority'
regarding the attainment of both social and
organisational goals.
Just as with individuals, when communities
and organisations are isolated and disconnected,
they are in many ways powerless.
The challenge today is to link individuals,
organisations and socities into learning
networks. The result of such joint
effort is long-tern survival.
The natural world is made up of various and
multiple networks. Ecosystems are networks.
Thus the need to raise awareness of the relevance
of the learning networks to the sustainability
of human existence itself.
